Meditation
Here are some discoveries we have found along our meditation journey:
1. There are many ways to meditate. Your practice needs to feel good for you.
2. Feel free to lay down or sit up. You want to be comfortable in your body.
3. Your eyes can be open or closed depending on your preference.
4. It’s okay if thoughts come and go as you meditate. Just acknowledge them, and don’t try to push them away. Even if your mind is active, there is value in taking the time to allow your nervous system to relax.
5. It’s okay if you fall asleep. This may be the one time a day that you relax your nervous system outside of nighttime sleep.
6. Explore different meditations online. There are options including repeating a mantra, listening to calming music, participating in a body scan, etc. Try several and see how your body feels with each one.
7. Everyone has time to meditate. There is no fixed amount of time to meditate. Consider 5 min, 10 min or longer if the practice resonates with you.
Enjoy the journey!
