To the Parents: 2x the Confidence

After I wrote 2x the Confidence, I shared the blog with my students.  They took a couple minutes to journal about what they would do if they had 2x the Confidence.

Parents,

I want to share the inner thoughts of some of our North Shore and Chicago students.  These are their unedited responses:

"I would not allow people to disrespect me.  I allow friends to mistreat me because of my lack of confidence."

"I would correct classmates when they use my wrong pronouns."

"I would not hesitate when I am outside the paint.  I would just take the 3 without overthinking it."

"I would speak in class rather than trying to be invisible."

"I would ask questions in class.  Often, a teacher will give an assignment.  I do not understand it.  I will ask the teacher what the assignment is asking me to do.  The teacher will say to just read the directions again.  Even when I reread the directions, I still do not understand what it is saying.  I wish I had the confidence to tell the teacher that I do not get it."

I appreciate the courage and authenticity of my students to answer this deep question.

How can we support our students to have 2x the Confidence?
