Align in Sports

Part of the joy of sports is in finding alignment. When we find the flow in our sport, we feel powerful. It is like we have become tuned like a laser instead of diffused like a light bulb. It is the difference between feeling like you are running in quicksand vs getting a personal best time. It is part of what we love about watching excellent athletes. When we see their alignment, we are reminded of what is possible for us. Some basketball players effortlessly make 3s while others struggle to find the power no matter how much effort they use. The difference is alignment. Some golfers hit the ball 200 yards with ease while others swing with all their power and get little distance. There is a difference between force and power. The difference is alignment. We don't have to be regulated emotionally in order to find a level of alignment in our sport, but we know the mental game can make a big difference. We are at our best when we feel aligned inside and outside. Sports are a place to practice and learn alignment.
